Umera Ahmed’s Best Novels List Must Read

Umera Ahmed is a novelist and screenwriter who hails from Pakistan. Her novels are widely read. She was born in 1976 and did a master’s in English Literature. 

She has been teaching at Army Public School as an English teacher. She had an interest in writing and wanted to pursue in the writing field. She left her job and started writing for Urdu Magazines.

She has written around 30 books in her writing career. There are many famous novels by her, but Peer-e-Kamil is one of those that reached its highest peak. Many drama series have been created from her novels.

She won the Pakistan Media Award in 2014, and this recognition made her the best writer of novels. She got widespread popularity when she began collaborating with directors for drama series production.

1- Pir-e-Kamil

This novel is one of those novels that becomes a reason for her popularity. It was published in 2004, got international recognition and was translated into other languages, English and Arabic.

 The story of this novel circles around two characters, Salaar and Imama. Umera has presented love as a soul relationship, and this bond brings real change. 

Redemption is possible by heart and soul. True love always makes humans better and pious if it is based on purity.

2- Aab-e-Hayat

The novel Aab-e-Hayat was published in 2004 with full of thought-provoking spiritual revolution. It highlights the importance of social responsibility, personal change and a purposeful life. 

The plot of this novel revolves around Pir-e-Kamil’s characters, who start their new life journey. Imama is a strong woman, and she performs her role as a parent. 

Salar became a turn to true Muslim and became a pious Muslim. His strong belief against “Interest” highlights the Islamic fundamentals. A peaceful life is to bow in front of Allah, and it gives a superpower to the soul. A man should lead his life according to Islamic fundamentals.

3- Amar Bail

This novel is also a masterpiece of Umera Ahmed, and it was published in 2002. It highlights the role of power, bureaucracy’s corruption. 

The plot is around Aleezay, whose life is full of disturbance. She is lonely, and her parents are separated. Umar Jehangir belongs to a powerful father’s son. 

Both fall in love, and Umar wants to become a pious man. The system has high hijacked, and he is fed up with his corrupt job and sacrificed his life for Aleezay. The story portrays the true image of love in a corrupt society. A sensitive girl fights against a cruel world.

4- Shehr-e-Zaat

This novel was published in 2002 with a full message of worldly desire and self-recognition. The story of this novel is around a girl called Falak, who is rich and beautiful. 

Worldly desires have captured her entirely, and she has sketched her dream for her man. When she is in relation, this does not prove better for her.

A message of spiritual love has been highlighted through this story. The journey from betrayal to pious is the result of patience and simplicity. It forces humans should turn to Allah, who is the real creator. A spiritual peace can be found only in recognition of Allah’s love.  

5- Zindagi Gulzar

This novel was published in 1998, and this novel is one of the best novels of Uumera Ahmed. The plot contains the story of a girl whose life is full of worries, but she is on her way to change her fate. 

Being a middle-class family, she takes care of her children. Her heart is fed up with the cruel world; she hates men of society because her father has destroyed her life. 

On the other hand, Zarwan’s character is life-changing for Kashif Mirza. When they meet, a change comes in their life. 

Both become a reason for peace with each other and come out of their life’s problems. A life lesson of this novel is that life can be made better with the sacrifice of love and compromises. Women’s self-independence is the main highlight of this novel.

 6- La Hasil

Spirituality provides peace; human and worldly desires lead to ignorance. It was published in 2001 with the message of spiritual desires and fate. 

The plot of this novel is around an emotionally broken girl who accepts Islam and is known as Khadija Noor. She is leading her life with the burden of her father’s. 

After returning to Pakistan, she meets a pious woman who guides her spirituality. As a result of this, she turned to God, and a peace of mind came into her life. The novel portrays the message that worldly desires are the cause of human peace. 

Humans can make life better when they turn to the real Creator God. We should forgive each other for the sake of Allah, and in return, Allah rewards. The support of family helps in life to cope with tough times.

7- Maine Khwabon Ka Shajar Dekha Hai

Love is not the name of a prisoner, but being happy in prison. The plot of his novel is around selfish love and conspiracy. Shumeela loves her cousin, but her cousin Umer died in knot with a beautiful and educated girl. 

This breaks her love dream, and she starts a conspiracy with Umer’s mother. Umer’s marriage life is disturbed because of her passionate love, and he divorced her wife. Both Umer and Shummela’s marriage and now she considers her dream for Umer is completed.

When the reality is revealed, she is in depression and has failed in her mission. Her selfishness makes her a person who loves another from the heart and soul. 

This novel gives us a message that we should control our life’s desires. Love is the name of truth and sincerity. Dreams come true to disturb other lives.

8- Iman Ummid Aur Mohabbat

This novel discusses spirituality, sacrifice and the role of fate. The plot starts with a respectful girl called Umeed who has recently engaged with Jahanzaib. 

She shifted to Lahore to take care of her father in the hospital, and Jahanzaib went to America for higher studies. After returning from America, he demands to make a relationship with her without marriage. 

They broke their engagement because she preferred Eman. Another foreigner inspires all of this and comes into her life, and both start involving themselves.

The novel conveys a message that faith plays a pivotal role in human life. Desire for lust betrays humans.

We should always catch hope and faith and in return Allah rewards. Whatever happens in life, all is with the will of God.

9- man-o-salwa

This novel was published in 2006 with a message of social and spiritual significance. The protagonist of the plot is Zainab Zia, who belongs to a middle-class family. 

She was engaged with Sheraz, and the lust for wealth had created a distance between them, and he marriage to a rich girl. It was a disappointment for her; in response to this, she entered in Showbiz world.

It gives a deep message of patience, trust and belief in God who can turn a human situation. Taking revenge always leads to strife and proves poison for spiritual growth. We must earn in the right way for the sake of mental peace and to obey God’s will.

10- Aisa Kabhi Nahi Hota

The plot of this novel begins with the Protagonist Sara, who has a desire for love. To make this complete, her friend helps, but fails every time with different thoughts. 

At one point, she understands love is by nature, and it is not in humans’ control. As we explore novels, we learnt that love and affection can’t be achieved by effort, but it is a natural process. 

We get those who are written in our fate and destiny. The relationship of friendship is chosen by ourselves, but love can’t. With the deep message of love, friendship, it urges the reader to think with less expectation.
